Updated: Suspect Shot by Deputies Dies; Cook County Deputies Injured

Police have roped off a parking lot near 167th and Pulaski after a narcotics chase that ended in two injured deputies, one injured suspect and another apprehended.

Nyarko Johnson, 37, whose most recent address was in the 15400 block of Albany Street in Markham, has died as a result of the injuries he sustained during today's incident, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Department. He was the driver of a vehicle chased by sheriff's deputies and the subject of a narcotics investigation.

Two Cook County sheriff’s officers were rushed to South Suburban Hospital after their car flipped near 167th and Pulaski in Country Club Hills during a chase that involved a narcotics investigation, according to a Sun-Times Media report.

One suspect was shot and another apprehended. The wounded suspect was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, in critical condition, according to the report.

Police have closed off the parking lot and shopping center behind Applebee's and near the Wal-Mart.
