Vacation Spoiled by Burglary

Police responded to a call about a residential burglary in the 6300 block of Victoria Lane. The victims told officers that they were out of town and sometime while they were gone somebody broke into their house, removing several items and $500.

The victims said a neighbor removed the newspaper from their front step at 6:30 a.m. and everything was fine. However, when they returned home, the front window pane was knocked in and their back door was open. The victims stated that both were intact and locked when they left.

There are no suspects and the case was turned over to investigations.

'Warrant' or Not, My TV Is Missing

A victim in the 15700 block of Lamon Avenue contacted police after returning home to find their front door kicked in and their television and sound bar missing. The victim told police the items were valued at approximately $900.

A witness told police that they saw two men approaching the victim's apartment, at which point the men told the witness the victim, “has a warrant,”—at which point, the witness went back inside their apartment. prompting the witness back into their apartment. The witness said they heard a loud bang following the encounter.

The incident is under investigation.

Alchol Isn't Meant for the Open Road

Police arrested Michael L. Davis, of the 500 block of Des Plaines Avenue, Forest Park, for driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop in the 15800 block of Cicero Ave. Davis was involved in a accident, which police responded to.

At the accident, officers found half pint of New Amsterdam Gin on the passenger floorboard of Davis' car, which was partially full. According to the report Davis submitted to field sobriety tests, although he was unable to complete them. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and submitted to blood and urine testing while there.

After treatment, Davis was taken into custody and charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol, and no insurance. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 12.
