No Sign of Criminal Activity in Death of 7-Year-Old Oak Forest Girl: Police (Update)

DCFS is investigating the mother and babysitter of a young girl who died Wednesday, according to a report.

The death of a 7-year-old Oak Forest girl on Wednesday has prompted an investigation of the child’s babysitter, Sun-Times Media reports.

Bailee Zaker, of the 15000 block of Aspen Court was taken to Palos Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to the report. An agency spokeswoman said the girl's mother and babysitter are being looked at and that the girl’s sibling has been placed with a relative.

Police also are investigating the death.

A crime doesn’t appear to have taken place but investigators are waiting on more information from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, said Oak Forest Chief Greg Anderson.

An autopsy was conducted on the girl but a cause of death won't be released until further testing is complete, according to the medical examiner’s office.
