You're Going the Wrong Way

Freddie Hughes, 52, of the 6900 block of S. Carpenter Street, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage, following a stop in the 6000 block of W. 147th Street.

While on patrol, officers observed the vehicle Hughes was driving swerving in its lane from left to right, and initated a traffic stop. During the stop officers noted Hughes was slow and deliberate with his movements and his speech was slurred and mumbled.

Hughes told officers he was heading 'east' to a friend's house in Hyde Park, but officers noted he was traveling away from Hyde Park at the time of the stop.

Officers put Hughes through field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to the report.

Hughes was taken into custody and transported to the Oak Forest Police Department, where he was charged and processed. At the station, Hughes refused to submit a breath sample to police.

Hughes was released on bond, pending an upcoming court date.

If Carrying, Don't Get Pulled Over

Dalwayne Howard, Jr., 20, of the 9000 block of Phillip Street, Chicago, was cited for possession of cannabis after a traffic stop near the intersection of 167th Street and Kilbourn Avenue.

While monitoring traffic, officers noted Howard's car commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop.

During the stop, officers smelled a strong odor of burnt cannabis and saw a blunt in the center ashtray.

Howard was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and released.

Who Took My Social Security?

Police were called to a home in the 5000 block of 159th Street, after a resident reported a financial identity theft.

A woman told police she receives $710 per month from social security for disability. The victim said she went to Food 4 Less to purchase groceries and was informed she had insufficient funds.

The victim told officers she called and was informed her balance was $5 and that two purchases for $400 and $200 were made respectively earlier in the day.

The victim said that she is the only person who uses the card, and wanted to file a police report.

Grocery Store Pickpocket

A victim called the Oak Forest Police to report a theft at Aldi Food Store, 15441 Cicero Avenue, at around 1:45 p.m.

The victim told officers that while she was shopping, an unknown suspect removed her wallet from her purse, which contained her credit cards and $120 in cash.

Store employees told police that there was no camera footage available of the theft. Police advised the victim to cancel all of her credit cards that were taken.
