$10K Cash Snatched in Oak Forest Burglary

Jewelry and laptops also were taken in after an apartment break-in in the 15800 block of South Central Avenue on April 2.

Expensive jewelry, laptop computers and $10,000 cash meant for a trip to the Philippines were reported missing from a ransacked apartment, according to a report.

Police were called at about 8:32 p.m. on April 2 to the 15800 block of South Central Avenue, the report stated. Dresser drawers were opened and boxes were emptied in the master bedroom of the apartment, the report continued. The victims told police they had left just five hours earlier that day. When they returned, they found the front door busted open, the report added.

The victims were planning to use the cash to visit a sick relative, according to the report.

Police found fingerprints and turned them over to the Joliet Crime Lab for analysis.

A witness reported seeing a man she hadn't seen before hanging around the apartments earlier that day. No arrests have been reported.
