Ingalls to Offer Free Seminar on Anterior Hip Replacement

Hip pain can be very difficult to live with. The pain one experiences from this type of problem can be felt not only in the hip, but oftentimes in the groin and upper thigh area, as well. There are many reasons for hip pain, and it is important to make an accurate diagnosis so that the appropriate treatment can be used. Reasons for hip pain range from common injuries to degenerative diseases.

Experienced surgeons on staff at Ingalls Advanced Orthopedic Institute are by far the metropolitan area leaders in a unique alternative approach that accesses the hip from the front, or anterior. Benefits to eligible patients include: reduced pain; faster recovery and shorter hospital stay; smaller incision and reduced blood loss; less muscle trauma; reduced risk of dislocation; and a more rapid return to normal activities.

“By and large, most individuals with hip arthritis would be candidates for anterior hip replacement,” says Daniel Weber, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon on staff at Ingalls Advanced Orthopedic Institute who specializes in joint replacements, revisions and sports related joint injuries. “One of the biggest advantages is that patients are up and around much more quickly.”
