Former 4th Ward Alderman Carol Scozio Dies

A long-time employee of Oak Forest Park District, former alderwoman of the 4th ward of the City of Oak Forest and sister to Treasurer Dwayne Fox, Carol Scozio was a quintessential public servant to the Oak Forest community.

Carol Scozio, former 4th Ward alderman and longtime servant to the , passed away Friday, Sept. 23.

City Hall is adorned with purple funeral bunting in honor of Scozio, sister of current Oak Forest Treasurer Dwayne Fox.

Scozio, 68, was married to husband Joseph for 44 years. She was a loving mother of Lisa (Jon) Housenga, Felicia (Vincent) LoRusso, and the late Joseph S. Scozio. Cherished grandmother of Carolyn and Emily LoRusso and Jack and Aaron Housenga.

In addition to her roles as mother, wife and grandmother, she was also a devoted civic servant, having worked as a longtime employee of the , in addition to her time as alderman. 

Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 26 from 3 to 9 p.m., at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Drive and Harlem). Funeral procession will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. from Colonial Chapel to . Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorials to American Lung Association preferred.
