Support for Hospitalized Hille Student Grows in Oak Forest

A website has been established to help provide dinner for the family of the student hit by a car on April 20.

Calls for support have come from the Oak Forest community since the accident.

John Doolin, a Forest Ridge School District 142 board member, wrote a column for Sun-Times Media about what people can do to help. (Doolin also is a South Division advertising director for Sun-Times Media.)

"As a community, we look for ways to help. What we can do is continue to support the family — not just now, but in the weeks and months to come," Doolin writes in the April 29 article. He goes on to recommend donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Oak Lawn. The family is staying there.

also started a petition drive in an effort to make the street near the middle school safer. A letter to parents and community members asks for their help in securing lighting and traffic safety devices along 151st Street.
