Bald for Bucks: Locals Help Battle Juvenile Cancer

Dozens of families came out to shave their heads for a good cause.

Dozens of people walked into  on Saturday with full heads of hair and decked out in their St. Paddy's Day best. They left still dressed in green, but with considerably smoother scalps.

The Irish hot spot hosted a St. Baldrick's Foundation event that raised over $22,500 and had a total of 72 shavees. The nation-wide organization raises money for juvenile cancer research.

Becca Sweeney, 10, spearheaded her family's participation in the event. She shaved her head along with her mother, father and two younger brothers.

"I think it is important because we are helping kids with cancer and we are raising money," Sweeney said.

The Sweeneys raised a total of $3,800 for the cause and were just one of many families and teams that participated.
