Fish FryDay: A Patchy Guide and Map

Looking for a good fish fry in your area? Patch went fishing for you, and took the bait of your favorite spots. You can help us build our list of best fish fry spots in the Southland.

It's FryDay—and Patch knows all the best spots for fish. Check out our updated map of the Southland's best fish frys.

Patch has fleshed out the map with , in addition to the weekly and one-time meal deals at area churches and VFW halls. Click on each pinpoint on the map for details on that location's offerings, including price and menu items.

The map is color-coded for your convenience: VFW halls in red, parishes in purple, and restaurants in green.

Thanks to all readers who helped us build our list last week. Keep the suggestions coming! This week, we're welcoming restaurant recommendations. Which is your favorite fish fry in the area, and why? Did we leave one off the list? Let's fix that. Email Oak Forest Patch editor Lauren Traut at lauren.traut@patch.com, and we will add them to our map. Or leave a comment on this article.

We'll update the map every week.

St. Germaine has good fish, but you'll wait an hour for seconds. They give you two pieces to start off which are small, but they don't come back for at least an hour to give you seconds. Who has time for that? It was not that crowded. There were many free tables. Then, the women passing out the food couldn't find the table numbers. They need a new system. It's very disorganized and chaotic. There's little kids running around asking if you are finished every couple of seconds disrupting the meal the whole time. Won't go back. I'll put the donation in the basket at church instead.

Try St. Jude's in New Lenox - great food, table, service, large quantity, and friendly people to strangers.

I was at St. Germaine fish fry on Friday March 2 and had just the opposite experience from yours: tasty deep-fried fish, loads of french fries, cole slaw and applesauce, plus a exellent desert table for a "donation" (the basket was full of $1 bills) My companion had a baked potato, instead of fries, and it was HUGE. Within 15 minutes of receiving our order, and about every 15 minutes thereafter, we were offered second helpings of fish. We arrived at 5 pm and the room was full; people were still arriving when we left at 7:30. It's a family-oriented evening and I enjoyed watching all the little kids. Where would you rather eat - the Morgue? We were there on March 9th also, with the same great food and fun experience.

Disappointed once again to not see 7th heaven on the roster. They have the best vocals out there,Read More even without their lead singer Keith Semple who defected to start a solo act. This band actually gets radio air play. Haven't heard any of the others at Oakfest on the radio.

I hope that you find the owners of that pet! I bring my black Shepherd up there when we go...oneRead More reason I don't let my dog go with neighbors is because neighbors can't control him like we do. The owners should have been more responsible. I'm glad that your daughter is alright and I hope that you find the owners of this dog!

I dare anyone to name a more dangerous intersection then that. The turn from 147th st west bound toRead More southbound Oak Park is the worst I've seen. One slip and your car goes down a ravine 20 feet. The civil engineer and county people who approved that design should be called out. We NEED HELP!
