Spring Lacrosse Sign Up

Park District spring 2013 "all-sport" registration off to a good start - including boys and girls lacrosse.

Hello All,

Spring 2013 lacrosse registration began today with, well, a FURY...and you think the Target ads are a little premature! The truth is that today was the first of two "all spring sports" combined registration days held at the main park district located at 15601 S. Central. Registration was taken today for girls softball, wrestling, soccer, and boys and girls lacrosse. The next combined registration day will be coming in January. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what the exact date is but I assure you that as soon as I find out, I'll let you know.

As expected because they are two of the park districts largest programs, girls softball and soccer registrations were by far the most active. Lacrosse on the other hand was noticably slower as it's still a building program. Personally, I'm not worried. Last year's inaugural girls lacrosse progam had twentyfour participants while the FURY co-ed program had nearly 350 participants after just three years. With better advertising and an earlier start, I'm confident that both programs will see a noticeable increase in participants.

Something interesting to note is that the lacrosse programs continue to grow regardless of the fact that Bremen High School District 228 continues to refuse to sign the IHSA "emerging sports agreement." At what point will this board realize that, like soccer and many other sports before it, the lacrosse program isn't going away and neither will the parents asking for the district's recognition of this great and rapidly expanding sport?
