Oak Forest Fury Lacrosse Falls to Mt. Carmel

Oak Forest Fury JV team loses 10-3 to Caravan.

The park district's boys junior varsity lacrosse team, the "Fury", traveled to the southeast side today to play a non-conference game against rival Mt. Carmel and unfortunately came up on the losing side of an otherwise competitive and hard fought match. Attacker Pat McErlean showed signs of his hockey skills and training by quickly out-maneuvering opponents twice in thirty seconds to score back-to-back goals in the third quarter. Mid-fielder Connor Rago, not lacking in ability, showed his strength and quickness by splitting two defenders and, with a rocketed shot, bounced in a "top shelf" goal in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, three goals were not enough to defeat the Caravan who scored 10 goals against the usually strong goalie Don Dreher. Fundamentally, "the Caravan just appeared better" says mid-fielder Kevin Conway who knows he and his team have work to do. As with any sport, the more you play and the tougher the opponent, the better you tend to play and that is just what this team plans on doing. Their next game is scheduled for this coming Thursday against Manooka at Ron Kaleta Field (aka Raiders Field), 5:30 p.m. If you've never seen a lacrosse game before, come on out to the field and get caught up in the excitement!
