Girls Lacrosse Plays Despite Foul Weather

One lacrosse game completed then stormy weather forces the cancellation of the remainder of the day.

The Oak Forest Park District's start-up girls lacrosse team traveled to Oak Lawn this past Sunday and despite the foul weather, the day wasn't a total wash out. Our 3-4-5th grade team fared pretty well against a well-coached Evergreen Park/Beverly team playing to what appeared to be a 4-4 tie. I say "appeared" because score isn't kept at this level. At the conclusion of that game, our 6-7-8th grade team was forced to wait while Duneland (yes, a team from Northwest Indiana) took the field against EP/Beverly. Unfortunately, that wait was all it took for mother nature to serve up another round of storms forcing an early cancellation to a good day. If you are interested in this exciting sport and would like to see what it is all about, you won't have to wait long. The team's next scheduled games are this coming Sunday, Mothers Day and are being played on Raiders Field behind the park district's main building located on Central Avenue. The games start at Noon and run through 4 p.m. Hope to see you there!
