Back-to-Back Mothers Day Lacrosse Games a Treat for Mom

Beautiful weather and a great location combine to make the park district's girls lacrosse team's home opener a tremendous success and a thrilling Mothers Day for many.

Our park district girls lacrosse teams (now unofficially named "Fire" by the girls) played back-to back double headers here in Oak Forest yesterday and offered up a thrill for many mothers and a handful of grandmothers as well. The sidelines at Ron Kaleta Field (home of the Oak Forest Raiders football program aka "Raiders Field") were crowded with what appeared to be extended families who chose to make watching their daughters and grand daughters play lacrosse as part of their Mothers Day festivities. Fortunately, the weather cooperated as well as teams from Evergreen Park/Beverly, Mokena, and Duneland made the trek to our community as our program hosted its first of many future home games. In all, five games were played with the usual result - a tie score as no official score is kept at this level in the league. Are you or your daughter interested in seeing what this program is all about? Our next scheduled practice is tomorrow evening 6 - 7:30 p.m. at Friendly Oaks Park, 16300 S. Long Avenue, OF. Feel free to stop by and chat (I'll be the guy with the purple shirt on that says "Director" on my back).
