Oak Forest Boys Basketball: Funkhouser Turns an Ankle in Loss to Morris

Oak Forest Boys Basketball lose a tough one to Morris despite Kyle Funkhouser's career-high of 26 points.

On Feb. 7, theBengals Boys Varsity Basketball team lost a tough one to the Morris Redskins, 56-49.

Behind Kyle Funkhouser's career-high 26 points the Bengals charged out to a 44-27 lead early in the 3rd quarter when Kyle twisted an ankle. Kyle was unable to return and the Bengals lost the momentum and the lead, with about 3 minutes left in the game. Funkhouser was 6-6 from 3-pt. range, 3-of-5 from inside the circle, and 2-2 from the FT line. After watching Kyle throw in bombs from all time zones for 2.5 quarters, the Bengal offense adjusted poorly when he left.

The Morris big men shut down the low post game from Tim Loeding and that caused a lot of standing around. Foul trouble was a problem as well, as Loeding and Mario Schaeffer spent more time on the bench than Coach Manzke would prefer. It also meant more court time for two freshmen, and well, they're freshmen. TJ Mayer added 6, Tim Loeding had 9, and Tom Zale and Mario Scaeffer chipped in 4 apiece. Hopefully, Kyle's ankle gets better quickly, as the State playoffs are just around the corner.
