Oak Forest Bengal Football: Offense Rushes Over the Shepard Astros in 45-21 Victory

Oak Forest moves to 4-0 behind the rushing attack that produced most of the 599 yards of total offense in their 45-21 victory at Shepard on Friday, September 14, 2012.

Oak Forest offense cranked out 599 yards last Friday against Shepard. Almost 90% of those were on the ground. Nick Ciufia had 171 of those on 17 carries and scored 4 touchdowns. Matt Barry again carried Astro defenders on his back on his way to over 150 yards and one touchdown of 50 yards. Tyler Usterbowski once again came up short of the end zone, but on many of his carries he got it close enough that Ciufia took it in from less than 10 yards on 3 of his TD runs (8, 4 and 2). The Bengal starting defense only allowed one touchdown until 6:38 to play when Shepard’s starters scored on 2 long TD passes against the Bengal backup cornerbacks. Starting Bengal CB Jeremy Kurtz (#8) intercepted one pass and deflected many others.

Southtown Star has moved the 4-0 Bengals to #6 in their latest poll, right behind this week’s opponent, #5 Lemont, who finally allowed points in last week’s win at Tinley Park to move to 4-0.
