Back in the Saddle
Juliana is ready to get back to the business of getting better...and maybe starting a whole new business as well.
You may have noticed Juliana’s return to Facebook marking her return to the path of recovery. It is true that in many ways she is doing so much better. The worst effects of the withdrawal are behind her and apart from her lingering tremors, her stiff and wobbly gait, and her muffled speech (ok, so that was a ‘come and go’ kind of thing anyway) she is on her way back to where she was prior to this latest setback. I recall the slow improvements after the initial pump surgery and in reading back (once again thankful I documented how things were) I see the correlation between what Juliana moved past then and what she needs to move past now. With each situation that causes us to recalculate brings the realization that the perpetual back and forth resulting in my daughter’s need to always have people doing what each of us do for ourselves. It’s sobering and often saddening but I often push the thought aside in favor of the next problem we might be able to solve. On that note the first order of business was to visit the doctor with Juliana for a follow up on her reintroduction of baclofen. (To read more go to www.forjuliana.org)
