Oak Forest Mom Vying to Become 'Mrs. Illinois'

Crystal Miguez will represent the city in a pageant Saturday, April 19.

An Oak Forest resident will compete April 19 for the title of "Mrs. Illinois."

"Mrs. Oak Forest" Crystal Miguez will represent the city in the pageant that highlights "the person who contributes so much to modern family life—America's married woman.

"While beauty is a key element in the competition. Mrs. Illinois contestants are also urged to voice their opinions on the marriage and important issues of the day," as described on the pageant's website.

Miguez has lived in Oak Forest for a year, with her husband Neil and son Tyson. She also completed her student teaching in Bremen High School District 228.

"I am convinced I couldn’t have picked a better place to call home," she said. 

Contestants will compete to win thousands in prizes, one of which includes paid trip for 15 days to compete for Mrs. America, at the Greenbrier, West Virginia Resort.

The pageant will be held April 19, at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin, Ill.
