Winter Storm Watch Issued for Oak Forest

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Oak Forest, effective Friday morning.

Winter is in full swing in Oak Forest. has since been upgraded to a winter storm warning for the city, effective Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to midnight.

The National Weather Service said snow will develop during the mid to late morning hours and will continue through Friday night, with the heaviest snowfall coming during the afternoon hours.

Oak Forest can see up to 8 inches of snow Friday. A hazardous weather outlook remains as temperatures will drop later in the evening.

Use caution when driving and plan your commute accordingly. Cold temperatures will make salt less effective and make it harder for crews to keep the roads clear of snow and ice, according to the National Weather Service. Heavier snowfall may result in reduced visibilities and significantly increased travel times.
