Many heeded warnings of extreme heat issued last night and this morning—but everyone's wondering where this heat wave is?

Blanket cloud cover has kept the area cooler than expected, for longer—but the heat is still coming, according to the Chicago Weather Center blog.

In the evening, temps are expected to dip to the upper 70s and 80s, bringing very little relief from the heat.
