B & M Auto Sales and Services has served area consumers looking to purchase cars for 40 years. Founded by Bill and Marie Leighton in Alsip, the business moved to Oak Forest 12 years ago and has since abandoned wholesale auto sales for used car sales and car maintenance.

B & M first opened its doors as a car whole seller, which means it acted as a middle man between people selling their cars and used car dealerships or auctions. After the picking up roots, it made sense to switch to a spot Oak Forest resident's could both buy their cars from and get them serviced, Bill Leighton said. This wasn't the easiest of moves to make.

“I was worried, I was nervous for a long time,” Bill Leighton said. “Since then, we've grown. We've gotten bigger. We're selling more cars, even with the downturn in the economy.”

B & M will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a customer appreciation event. The date of the event has yet to be set.

With decades of service under their belts, B & M's staff is determined to continue selling and servicing cars in Oak Forest. That's just the way Leighton and Dominic Saggione, the company's "Internet Manager," want it.

“We build relationships with our customers and ... we don't just stick our cars on the lot,” Saggione said. “We make sure everything is serviced and ready to go. We make sure people are getting a good car that we would drive."

"I think that's why we get so many repeat customers," Saggione said.
