Power Line Down in Oak Forest

A power line that snapped has knocked out power to the area of 147th Street and Laramie Avenue in Oak Forest.

A power line snapped about 2:45 p.m. near 147th Street and Laramie Avenue knocking out power to homes and businesses in the surrounding area.

Police have blocked traffic in the area and are rerouting motorists.

ComEd crews are enroute to the scene. A ComEd outage map indicates up to 500 people are without power.

Oak Forest police have also reported arcing power lines and burn spots near 150th Street and El Vista Avenue.

The Midlothian Country Club is across the street from the downed power line.
