Offer Up Opinions of Forest Preserve District's Master Plan

Regular visitor of area forest preserves? Do you run or bike the trails often? The Forest Preserve District of Cook County wants your opinion.

The Forest Preserve is looking for feedback on its trail master plan, and visitors have until Oct. 18 to chime in.

The District’s trail systems are among its most popular assets. Maybe provide public access to the Forest Preserves, offer transportation alternatives, support economic activity, environmental awareness, and healthy lifestyles.

The master plan—which is expected to see revisions through early 2014— is intended to provide basic information on the current trail system, along with recommendations for new policies and a process for assessing requests to improve unrecognized trails and to prioritize future enhancements. It also describes the need for further information gathering, as well as, additional staff and volunteer needs to adequately fund, maintain and police the system as it continues to expand.

Have you seen the plan? Download it here. It can also be found below, as a PDF. Email Kindy Kruller at kindy.kruller@cookcountyil.gov with your feedback.
