Mailbox Meets Snowplow? Here's What to Do

If your mailbox was damaged by a snowplow, the City of Oak Forest can help. Find out how.

If you mailbox isn't looking too pretty after a run-in with a snowplow, the says they can help.

If your mailbox was damaged after a recent snowstorm, please call Public Works at 708-535-4090 or complete an online service request.  Public Works will schedule a time to inspect your mailbox and determine responsibility. 

If your mailbox is located in accordance with the city’s standards and a city snowplow physically strikes and damages the mailbox, the Public Works Department will replace it with a standard mailbox. Please note that Public Works does not replace decorative or brick mailboxes. Instead, the department will reimburse you up to $40 for a decorative or brick mailbox. If your mailbox is incorrectly located or knocked down from the weight of the snow rolling off the plow, then you are responsible for replacing it.
