We started off the week with the next edition of our , which pitted three taco hotspots against each other, to determine the tastiest.

  • Joan Hoye Bravo: Marios on Old Western Ave and Broadway in Blue Island is the best! Been going there regularily since the early 80s!

Our Monday PatchCast featured news about re-districting, and Alderman Rich Simon piped up on the page.

  • Richard Simon: Everyone better watch the re-mapping. It seem they have done all the damage they can do to Oak forest with the state and federal reps they have forced on us, but they will attempt to do more. Watch how your reps and senators vote on this. Whatever they do we are stuck with for ten years, but they don't want you to know this.

We're looking for our Are you a proud parent associated with a citywide program? Do yuo have something to say about living in Oak Forest, and your interests? We'd love to talk to you! One of you is already interested. If you want to jump onboard, email editor Lauren Traut, at lauren.traut@patch.com.

  • Matt Aggen: Sounds intriguing. I was on staff of my high school paper / yearbook as well as my college newspaper. I do miss journalism from time to time. :) What would this look like?

We want to know what you love about your Patch, and what you'd like to see more of. A few of you offered feedback on our Facebook.

  • Melanie Sanchez: I like the police blotter stories...highlights from other patches. I'd like to see more local business spotlights with maybe even a special promotion or discount if the patch is mentioned; I'd like to see more reminders of school functions like games, craft shows, etc. Just because I don't have children doesn't mean I don't want to support my neighborhod schools and local athletes but its harder for me to find things out since I don't know where to look for the info. I'm not sure if you can offer the above stories but don't worry...I'm always going to be a Patch fan!
  • Judy Wortel-Ciufia: I love reading/ seeing the high school athletes of week, especially when they are interviewed on video. It is great that you highlight all of the sports at the high schools. It is also great that you can add your event to the Patch calendar.

Aldermen Tuesday to the commuter lot fee. Here's what you had to say.

  • Teena Long: Better then the gas prices!!!
  • Sarah Richmond D'Amico: Wow! I can't believe it was still $1 until now. I know the OF station isn't new and swanky - but man, it was $1 when I parked there 15 yrs ago. They should have raised it to $2, it's easier to manage 2 $1 bills than to worry about change. ;)
  • Krista Kaleta Attreau: I have been riding Metra since 1984 (egad). $1.00 is unheard of at other stations and the increase is small compared to all of the other increases we are experiencing (especially gas). Plus, the people who use the train are the only ones who pay the increase - not the entire population. You use it, you pay for it. Instead of the way we all usually pay the price whether we utilize a service or not.

You might have noticed our site got a bit of a different look Thursday. What do you think? Be sure to leave your feedback in the comments section, or on our Facebook page.

  • Matt Aggen: I like the new look, especially the addition of the events column.

We'll be offering a , giving you the most affordable gas prices in Oak Forest. You seemed pretty fond of the idea!

  • Dameuris Feliz: I'm totally jealous that my town doesn't have a Patch... keep it up! I love reading all of your stuff even though I'm not in OF!
  • Laura Burns Baldwin: Yes, early morning is great!
  • Mary Ryan Cavanaugh: Great idea- we just need to realize that by early afternoon it may have gone up! :(
  • Laura Burns Baldwin: Sad but true Mary :(
  • Cheryl S. Bilski-Roessler: ‎3.99 in minooka... that is crook county for u

PATCH PRAISE

  • Wally Quintanilla: Great coverage of the situation Thursday! You even have a pic of me getting ready to go to work. Thanks.
