Tin Man to Be Raised to Roof May 7

An Oak Forest favorite will return to his usual spot after the weather warms up.

Pencil in the Tin Man for May 7, as the Oak Forest icon is scheduled to return to the rooftop of King Heating and Air Conditioning.

After nearly four years removed from its spot of more than  30 years, residents will see it raised back up to the perch on the corner of 159th and Cicero.

Owner Tim Willson told Sun-Times Media of the date late last week.

The figure was taken down in 2007, after officials told Willson it was improperly affixed to the roof and did not meet city signage requirements.  On Jan. 25, the Oak Forest City Council , with proper safety and code requirements met.

Willson told Patch reporters after the vote that a plan had already been designed, and he was holding off until warmer weather for the homecoming.
