State Approves Advocate Christ's Plans for New Ambulatory Pavilion

The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved Advocate Christ Medical Center’s plans for its new ambulatory pavilion and parking garage Tuesday afternoon.

The state planning board voted unanimously to grant a Certificate of Need allowing the medical center to move forward with the $202 million project that will be built on the northwestern edge of the campus at the corner of 95th Street and Kilbourn Avenue in Oak Lawn.

The ambulatory pavilion will feature multidisciplinary outpatient clinics, 14 operating suites for outpatient procedures, endoscopy laboratories and two floors of advanced imaging technology. Three of the medical center’s institutes – cancer, heart, and vascular and neurosciences – as well as Women’s Center, will also be headquartered in the new pavilion.

“The pavilion will enable us to serve the community better by centralizing our outpatient services in a single, new facility that offers modern, high-tech space and equipment for surgical procedures,” Dominica Tallarico said in a press statement, chief operating officer for and .

The state planning board’s approval allows the medical center to move forward with groundbreaking in October. The ambulatory pavilion is scheduled to open in 2013 and is expected to bring 500 construction jobs to the southwest suburbs.
