Patch Pizza Playoffs: Who Do You Love?

The most-loved pizza championship round is upon us. Vote for your favorite, tell us why you love them and trust in the tongues of eight community taste testers!

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Great 8, the winners of first-round voting in the Patch Pizza Playoffs: , Chicago Heights; , Evergreen Park; , Homewood; , Orland Park; , Palos Heights; , New Lenox; , Frankfort; , Tinley Park.

Our championship showdown will determine the most-loved pizza in south suburban Patchland. There are two ways you can show your love.

1. VOTE: From today through Sunday at 10 p.m. cast a vote in our poll. Your votes count for one-third of the points in our weighted scoring system.

2. EXPRESS YOURSELF: Leave a stellar review of your favorite place on the eatery's Patch Places business profile. What do you love about the sauce, the dough, the cheese, the sausage ... the cute pizza delivery boy? The more good reviews, the more points. Reviews posted from today through Sunday at 10 p.m. will count toward one-third of the final score.

The final third of the vote will involve eight lucky Patch readers.

3. TASTE TEST: We've invited one Patch community member from each of the eight first-round brackets to a pizza tasting, which will take place on Thursday, Feb. 16. They will rate the pies on a scale of 0-5 (with 5 being the best). Each pizza place will be able to choose the type of toppings and pie for the tasting, putting their best pie forward. Their votes will determine one-third of the final score.

Cast your vote. Then click on the restaurant's name below to get to their profile, where you can submit a review.

  • , Chicago Heights
  • , Evergreen Park
  • , Homewood
  • , Orland Park
  • , Palos Heights
  • , New Lenox
  •  Frankfort

* You're free to vote several times to support your favorite place. But if the number of votes gets out of hand, the Great Brain at Patch will adjust the results in proportion to the number of visitors to our poll.

Was at the Tinley Park fishing show Saturday so I swung by Salina's for a GF pizza. The crust was thin & crispy :-) Pizza was much betters than Palermo's, thank you very much!
They were handing out flyer's to vote for them. Didn't have please in their plead but I voted for them anyway LOL.

Salinas pizza is the best around!!! Fresh ingredients and a big selection of toppings. Also a very friendly staff and the owner neal is really committed to giving you the best!
ryan February 12, 2012 at 02:29 am
Salina's by far is the best around. I have ordered pizza from surrounding areas (evergreen-oak lawn, morris-mazon, berwyn-cicero, bollingbrook-plainfield ect...) I will always be a loyal customer! Unfortunately their food and service is so good after being unemployed for a year Salinas is my family's only continued vice my kids love it. I have also used their catering and rental services and have been equally impressed. Planning a birthday party for Irish triplets is hard enough but to know that i am able to make one phone call to a LOCAL small business and have all of my needs taken care of is most genuinely appreciated.

Mary I was wondering if you ever have anything positive to say? All of your comments have negativity.
P.s. How many cats do you have? Just wondering......

kathleen February 12, 2012 at 02:40 pm

Seriously, who voted for Durbin's? If that's the best pizza in Evergreen park, I'm Rumplestiltskin.
Beth Welsh February 12, 2012 at 04:54 pm
Pizza Pete is the best around!!
kathleen February 12, 2012 at 07:31 pm
Meant to say Salina's
Pat F February 12, 2012 at 07:33 pm
Durbins has good pizza, but being a resident of Oak Lawn there's no way it compares to Phils, Foxs, Palermos, and probably 2 or 3 more?? Don't know how Durbins got on top for our general area but it sure wasn't voted tops by pizza eaters???

Great Pizza starts with fresh and quality ingredients. Pizza Pete not only uses quality products but strives to purchase their fine products locally whenever possible. They have a unique oven that produces that tasty thin and crispy crust. They have expanded their menu over the years, some of my favorite additions are the mixed veggie basket and all their chicken items. I look forward to ordering from "The Pete" everytime I get back to Orland Park. Pizza Pete has been owned and operated by the same family for over 40 years now and gets my vote for the best pizza pie in the south suburbs.
Pat Haak February 12, 2012 at 09:40 pm
Pizza Pete has the best pizza on the south side.

I said Nino's was a great restaurant. Was it deleted?
Stacey February 12, 2012 at 10:19 pm
Pizza Pete is the best on the area. I moved out of Orland many years ago and I always make it a point to go back for a double decker pizza with sausage at least every weekend. My parents and my family have been loyal customers for over 30 years and I hope they win because they deserve it!
Stacey February 12, 2012 at 10:20 pm
Don - you obviously don't know good pizza! Sorry for you! :(
John J. February 12, 2012 at 10:27 pm
How the heck did Mama & Me win, 389 votes which equates to 1%. I know there were 2 other segments but still, lol it's pretty crazy. Ohhh well...congrats to them.
Kathie February 12, 2012 at 10:40 pm
You can't go wrong with any of these pizzas! Although I still love Beggars and Ed and Joe's!
Mary Carumba February 12, 2012 at 11:38 pm
Ryan,
I think wearing your mothers bra is cutting off the circulation to you brian, pee-wee.
Lisa February 12, 2012 at 11:50 pm
My vote is for Pizza Pete! I love their double decker pizza!
Wendy LoCascio February 13, 2012 at 12:44 am

Hey, John J.
If I am correct in assuming your comment is in reference to the title article that linked to this—it might be worth clarifying that Mama & Me was announced as having the local pizza playoff victory as opposed to the regional pizza playoff victory. Sorry for any confusion.
Pat F February 13, 2012 at 03:11 am
This isn't the same Pizza Pete that used to be on 111th street by Oak Park ave in Worth that you're talking about???
Eric C (Chicago Dough Co) February 13, 2012 at 03:28 am
We would also like to take an opportunity to thank everyone for their support! We enjoyed seeing many faces this weekend. Thank you New Lenox and all the others that voted for us!
Michael Sewall (Editor) February 13, 2012 at 03:40 am
Thank you for participating, Eric! It was great seeing all the fliers up around the restaurant.

Thanks, Wendy. I hope that is what people take away from this playoff. We are celebrating our local businesses and the undeniable love affair southsiders have with their favorite pizza. Here at Patch we not only cover our towns, but celebrate what makes them special. For me, that is in large part the small business owners who form the backbone of a town. I hope this encourages everyone to support those places that support your community.

Bella Cain was a nice surprise last year for a first-time band last year. Nice to see them backRead More this year.

Disappointed once again to not see 7th heaven on the roster. They have the best vocals out there,Read More even without their lead singer Keith Semple who defected to start a solo act. This band actually gets radio air play. Haven't heard any of the others at Oakfest on the radio.
Robert Quilico June 11, 2013 at 07:31 am
Stephanie, not sure how to do so. Joe, thanks for your concern. We are still hoping to find someoneRead More here that may know of the dog. We are not looking to cause it any harm, just looking for information.

I hope that you find the owners of that pet! I bring my black Shepherd up there when we go...oneRead More reason I don't let my dog go with neighbors is because neighbors can't control him like we do. The owners should have been more responsible. I'm glad that your daughter is alright and I hope that you find the owners of this dog!

I dare anyone to name a more dangerous intersection then that. The turn from 147th st west bound toRead More southbound Oak Park is the worst I've seen. One slip and your car goes down a ravine 20 feet. The civil engineer and county people who approved that design should be called out. We NEED HELP!
Carol Martinez June 2, 2013 at 10:43 am
Where is the Pink slip boutique located? It is nice to hear of sales, but please give address andRead More dates.
