New Mongolian Barbecue Opens in Oak Forest
VIP Mongolian Bar and Grill, which is located in the former spot of Villa Rivera Mexican restaurant on 159th Street, serves eastern and central Asian cuisine and offers an extensive drink menu.
A new Mongolian barbecue restaurant has opened at the former location of Villa Rivera Mexican restaurant on 159th Street.
VIP Mongolian Bar and Grill, 5233 W. 159th St., is a family-owned eatery that serves eastern and central Asian food, along with a few American standards, according to a City of Oak Forest press release. Like traditional Mongolian barbecues—though technically this cuisine style is neither Mongolian nor strictly barbecue—customers at VIP create their own stir-fry dishes, choosing from meat, seafood, vegetables and sauces.
The restaurant also has an extensive drink menu, featuring a specialty item called the Fruit Loop, the release stated.
“Although the owners are finishing up some improvements to the outside of the building, the interior space has undergone a complete transformation,” Oak Forest's Community Development Director Adam Dotson stated in the release. “The menu is fun and inventive and really brings an exciting flavor to town. The restaurant is a welcome addition to the 159th Street corridor.”
