L.A. Fitness, Oak Forest Working on 159th Street Location
The City is moving ahead with engineering, while lease terms are being negotiated and finalized.
Oak Forest officials are still negotiating terms of a lease with a developer seeking to open an LA Fitness in town.
The 38,000-square-foot building pitched by Mid America Development LLC would sit on a 32,000-sq. ft. footprint, to be situated at 5418 W. 159th St., Dotson said.
The city is looking in preliminary engineering stages to determine if it can provide the space the business needs, Dotson said, while the developer works to finalize the lease. The location is adjacent to the Oak Forest Commons shopping center.
Dotson hopes construction would begin this summer, however the project's progress is dependent on negotiations. Officials hope to have conditions finalized within 60–90 days.
