L.A. Fitness, Oak Forest Working on 159th Street Location

The City is moving ahead with engineering, while lease terms are being negotiated and finalized.

Oak Forest officials are still negotiating terms of a lease with a developer seeking to open an LA Fitness in town.

The 38,000-square-foot building pitched by Mid America Development LLC would sit on a 32,000-sq. ft. footprint, to be situated at 5418 W. 159th St., Dotson said.

The city is looking in preliminary engineering stages to determine if it can provide the space the business needs, Dotson said, while the developer works to finalize the lease. The location is adjacent to the Oak Forest Commons shopping center.

Dotson hopes construction would begin this summer, however the project's progress is dependent on negotiations. Officials hope to have conditions finalized within 60–90 days.

Oak Fest needs an independent team to handle every cent that comes in and is paid out. No way you can trust anyone in this administration after years of corruption. Kuspa is nonexistent in Oak Forest. If he fell in a well no one would notice, let alone care. He has done ZERO for OF.

I agree. I can't wait for the next administration. The mayor, and these aldermen/alderwomen who don't know have a strong business/financial background, all need to go. And they will come next election. Their heart might be in the right place, but the lack of knowledge, skills, and business finesse have been destroying Oak Forest for years. The only think that will save this town is having the business finesse to court businesses into Oak Forest. And no, I am not talking about the Cash For Gold, Car Title Loans, and pawn shops that have come into town under the current mayor.

Ohhh.....so B is already planting the seeds for the next campaign. I bet if he/she were exposed, it would shock no one to know that they're a local "player" in OF politics.

Actually, I am not a local player in politics. I am a taxpayer who has seen this town take a nasty tumble in the last 10-14 years. I know politicians on surrounding city and village boards, and I know what they have done to make their towns prosper. It's common sense that the #1 thing that makes any town prosperous is economic growth. That is something that this town has lacked for well over a decade
