Food 4 Less Reopens with More for Customers

Food 4 Less, located at 5556 159th St., held a grand reopening ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 29., with local officials, school principals, Kroger Corporation officials and more on-hand to celebrate.

reopened its doors yesterday in grand fashion after three months of remodeling. The event featured high ranking members of the Kroger Corporation, which owns Food 4 Less, Oak Forest elected officials, local school principals and more taking part in the 

During the event, which also featured the band playing a few selections to keep the crowd entertained, Food 4 Less Operations Manager Dan Sandfor highlighted several of the improvements to the store.

Among the improvements, Sandfor said the store operates at 25 percent higher efficiency than a typical store, thanks to green technology, and also now boasts increased produce space and selection. The food also added to its ethnic food selection.

“We've put a lot of effort into this store,” Sandfor said. “We've changed a lot of things … I've heard a lot of comments from a lot of you who shop here, who've noticed it.”

Following the list of improvements, Sandfor and Store Manager Dean Owen presented three checks for $2,500 each to School, and Oak Forest High School. The checks were accepted by principals Camille Hogan, Lori J. Leppert and Brad Sikora respectively.

“We want to thank you for your generous donation,” Sikora told the crowd. “Our motto at Oak Forest High School is, 'Academics, plus activities, equal excellence.' And your money is going to directly help us influence and help us reach our mission.”

The event concluded with a ceremonial ribboncutting in front of the store, with members of the store staff, the principals, Kroger and Oak Forest officials and more joining in. The store is now open 6 a.m.-midnight, seven days a week.
