Football: Oak Forest Snags 33rd Spot in USA Today's State Rankings

In their conference, the Bengals are only ranked behind Lemont as they head into the 2013 season. What do you think of this preseason rating?

Oak Forest High School's football team captured the 33rd slot among Illinois schools in USA Today's annual rankings.

The only team in Oak Forest's conference—South Suburban (Blue)—with a higher ranking is Lemont at No. 27.

Last year, Oak Forest had a 10-2 record and still looks to be formidable in the upcoming season. The ranking is slightly lower than last season, when the Bengals were ranked No. 30. But considering the team was rated in the 90s during the 2011-12 season, that's quite a jump.

Other schools in the South Suburban (Blue) conference and in neighboring communities ranked accordingly:

  • Tinley Park: 115
  • Andrew: 78
  • Bremen: 149
  • Hillcrest: 362

The highest ranking school in the south suburbs is Lincoln-Way East at No. 3.
