You Told Us: Acorn Library Set to Give Away Nook

Acorn Library Giving Away a Free Nook

To celebrate National Library Week, April 8-14, will be giving a way a free Nook Simple Touch eReader. To enter the contest simply check out any book or any other item from the library and you will be entered into the raffle.

The library will draw the winning entrant on Friday, April 13. There will also be coffee and refreshments at the library on April 13.

Design Oak Forest's Rain Barrel Contest

The city of Oak Forest's Green Steps Commission invites residents to submit designs for the city's rain barrel that is currently on display at city hall. Residents should submit their designs to Janine Perez at janinesemailaddress@comcast.net.

The winning design will be chosen at the April 16, Green Steps Commission meeting on April 16.

Gaelic Park Awarded $7,500 by Chicago Southland Visitors Bureau

received part of $21,000 in grant money from the Chicago Southland Visitor's Bureau. The money will be used to advertise in several publications, including Irish American News, Irish Echo and Irish voice, along with several radio ads on WDRV-FM. The park recieved a Local Tourism Matching Grant in the ammount of $7,500 to use toward the ads.

Gaelic Park hosts an annual Irish Fest, which will celebrate its 29th anniversary this year. The fest draws between 20,000 and 60,000 people annually.
