This Weekend: Movie Night, Concerts and Back to School Fun

Events are happening this weekend, August 11-13, in the Orland, Palos, Tinley and Oak Forest areas.

Just like prairie dogs in U.S. deserts, life is easier if you hang with a group. This weekend, take friends, relatives or even a date out to see what the south 'burbs have to offer including fundraisers, mini-golf and back to school fun.

Nightlife


August 11, 6pm - 9pm | Support Together We Cope by trying a custom brew (called Cope-asetic) sold in Together We Cope pint glasses for $5 each. Enter a raffle for an iPad2. 10% of all food sales will be donated to Together We Cope. 


August 12, 7pm - 9pm | Take that special someone for a round of mini-golf. Couples golf for $5 and receive a flower. Concessions will be open until 9pm, and chocolate is half price.

Performing Arts


Thursday, August 11, 7pm - 8pm; Sunday, 14, 6pm–7pm | Spend time outside with two concerts in the Park this weekend. First listen to British invasion band on Thursday evening. Wrap up the weekend with Admission is free.


August 13, 7pm - 10pm | American Legion Post 615
Laugh 'till you cry with Improv Unlimited at the American Legion Post. Doors open at 7pm, and the performance starts at 8pm. Admission is $10.

Movies


August 13, 8pm | Metra Parking Lot
Watch action flick Spider-Man on a giant blimp screen. Bring your own popcorn, blanket or lawn chair. This is a free event.


August 11, 2pm–4pm | Cozy up in the Palos Heights Library and watch Morning Glory starring Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton. This is a free event.

Kid Friendly


August 11, 6:30pm–7:30pm | Save your pennies in your own little bank. Kids ages 6 and up can paint their own Ladybug Bank. Registration is required.


August 13, 10am – 2pm | Oak Forest Commons
Let the kids live it up one last time before the summer ends at the Oak Forest Commons. Take part in contests, play games, listen to music and take advantage of back to school sales.
