Although Oxygen Teen Nite Club had its soft opening earlier this summer, the new Oak Forest dance spot for 16- to 20-year-olds will be holding it's official grand re-opening and back to school bash from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.

Will your teen be there?

Ever since the club was approved by the Oak Forest City Council last year, Oxygen has been a lightning rod for criticism from residents who claimed the nightspot would be a trouble magnet even before the doors opened.

But the owners have said their customers' safety is their first priority, and that the community should give them a fair shake before judging them.

What do you think?

Check out Patch's coverage of the club:

The teen club provides an opportunity for young DJs from Oak Forest and around the area to show off their skills. Check out Patch's video interview with Oxygen DJs Danny "Damute" Brooks and Mike "DJ Koz" Koz as they talk about what it's like to lay down beats at the club.

3am? Who are you deceiving saying that you care for the SAFETY of the youth? None of my children in this age bracket are allowed to stay pass 11pm. To the owner: Use it for the good of the youth and you will receive in abundance.

I thought there was a curfew in Oak Forest for kids under 18??

Sigh. People, really? There are different curfews for different age groups. Obviously a 16 year-old can't stay out until 3AM. Use your heads. You're sitting here demonizing a club that is going to have underage, young adults in a setting with no alcohol. I don't know what's more scary: you people or the fact that your children were raised by you.

What's scary is that you think it's ok that a 13 y/o girl will hang out with a 23 y/o man. I find that more than a little disturbing Allison.

I think our kids need a safer place to hang out then the streets and the parks. I think I will be open minded on the club until I see or here something negative. Back in the 90's there were several teen night clubs and we all survived.
