Auditions for “A Raisin In The Sun” coming to SSC

The SSC Playhouse and Theatre Department of South Suburban College announces auditions for its spring production of “A Raisin In The Sun,” by Lorraine Hansberry. The show is to be directed by Bobbie Saltzman.

Auditions will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3, from 3-9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Auditions will be held in the Kindig Performing Arts Center on SSC’s Main Campus in South Holland. There are roles available for five males, four females and one young male.  Volunteers are also needed for technical work. Since talent doesn’t discriminate, actors of all colors, ages and sizes are encouraged to audition. Auditions are open to the entire community and no experience is needed. Copies of the script are available in the SSC Library.  Auditioners should be prepared to read from the script.

Rehearsals will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Wednesday rehearsals will be added to the schedule beginning March 23.  The production will open on Tuesday, April 12, and run through Sunday, April 17, with show times at 8 p.m. each night and additional 2 p.m. matinees schedule for Saturday, April 16, and Sunday, April 17.
