Does Oak Fest's Musical Lineup Hit a Sour Note With You?

Or are you glad to see bands such as Infinity playing the stage at the city's annual festival? Readers have been talking about this year's lineup, and Patch wants to hear what you think.

Oak Fest is fast approaching, and that means some residents are planning which musical acts to catch during the five-day event.

But some festival-goers aren't that thrilled with this year's lineup, which includes former American Idol and Oak Forest native Chris Medina, as well as bands Infinity, Your Villain My Hero, Bella Cain and more.

Reader Justaguyjnes, in a posting on Oak Forest Patch's Opinion Board under the headline "Oak Fest entertainment a disaster," was particularly critical of this year's lineup:

"As a long time visitor to Oakfest [sic] I cannot believe that this year's entertainment committee brought in such a bunch of losers . There is not one act that will keep the audience there long enough for the beer tent to recoup whatever they are paying them. The level of musical entertainment has certainly dropped in recent years but now he have hit an all time low."

Other readers also expressed their disappointment over certain local bands not playing at the 26th annual Oak Fest, which runs from July 3-7. But a few commenters said they were looking forward to who was playing the festival:

  • Michelle: "What about Chris Medina? I know I am taking my family to go and see him!"
  • Dutch Oven Chef: "Have any of you whiners ever seen the crowd at OakFest when Infinity is playing?? There are wall to wall people in the tent and out into the grass around the tent!"
  • Baba Wawa: "Bella Cain was a nice surprise last year for a first-time band last year. Nice to see them back this year."
