Yard Waste Pickup Begins April 1

Heads up, residents.

Yard waste pickup for Oak Forest residents will begin April 1.

Grass clippings, leaves, branches, etc. are considered yard waste (no dirt or rock).  Per state law, yard waste must not be mixed with your garbage.  It should be placed in brown paper yard waste bags or in your own 32-gallon can with a red “yard waste only” sticker on it.  Yard waste stickers are available for free from City Hall.  Large (95 gallon) yard waste carts on wheels are available to rent from NuWay Disposal.  Visit Homewood Disposal for more information.

If you are disposing of branches, please cut them into 3-to 4-foot lengths, no wider than 6 inches in diameter. Branches can be placed in the yard waste bag or put in reasonable sized bundles tied with twine or string.
