Winner, Winner, Steak Dinner? Bears Fan vs. Packers Fan in a House Divided

Remember these two? One of them will walk away disappointed tonight, and the other will not let that one forget it. These two are as devoted to their teams as they are to each other.

Even via email, Green Bay Packers fan Joe Fletcher can't help but dish out a little trash talk about his wife Kristen's beloved Chicago Bears.

With the two teams facing off tonight, each has their own score prediction—and hubby had a few fightin' words to match.

"She likes the Bears winning 27–24," Joe said. "I'm going with the Packers 34–24 and the score won't actually reflect the beatdown the Packers will hand out."

On the line? A steak dinner—and braggin' rights, of course.

Conflicting loyalties are nothing new to the pair. Kristen is confident that their kids will be Bears fans. Joe said he won't let that happen. Some couples have differences between them, but they have two entire football teams.

"Neither of us will ever compromise," said Kristen, a South Side native. "I will always be a Bears fan.

"And he will always be a Packers fan. ... It's rivalry at its finest."

Their unflagging, split loyalties to this week's opposing teams are so divisive, they sometimes find themselves in a stalemate.

"It gets nasty a lot," Joe said, chuckling. "I won't talk to her for several days."

Kristen's not the only one seeing the fall-out for her devotion. Her family isn't exactly pleased that Joe, a Wisconsin native who moved to Illinois when he was 8 years old, will sport green and gold in any matchup against their Bears.

They have other differences in opinion when it comes to team spirit. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, while he attended Northern Illinois University. But with his Wisconsin roots he finds himself cheering for the Badgers when they face off against the Fighting Illini. She's quick to tattle on his weekly trips to Illinois during their undergrad years, which were often spent boosting the Illini to victory.

"In some cases, I cheer for the Illini, but in Badgers-Illini, I go with Badgers," he said.

The two can at least agree on a love of the Chicago Bulls, Blackhawks and Notre Dame. Joe even swayed her to his side of Chicago baseball.

"I got her over to the 'dark side.' I got her over to the Cubs," Joe bragged, though Kristen claims it's more about the Cubs colors, than the actual team.

He'll never see her in green and gold because "she would die before wearing a Packers jersey out in public."
