Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Group leaders asked the members to collect 500 pounds in food donations for the Cook County Farm Bureau, as part of a competition with all other 4-H clubs in the county. The group doubled that expectation, collecting 1,124 pounds of food. The first place winner of the competition received $100 from the bureau, and the Silver Spurs decided to donate the money to . Marley Majetic is a local teenager whose aspiration to start up her own food pantry has helped increase donations citywide.

The 4-H Club has 50 members, who participate in activitjes like field-trips to visit the Chicago Mounted Police, Fair Oaks Farm dairy farm and 4-H International Club. In addition to horses, the group members also work with and learn about goats, poultry and rabbits. The group also dabbles in visual arts, including photography. They meet the second Tuesday of every month at Forest View Farm.
