What the Truck? Military Vehicles at Oak Forest Health Center Spark Concern
What's with the military vehicles at Oak Forest Health Center?
Military vehicles at Oak Forest Health Center have Oak Forest residents in a tizzy—and wondering what's coming next for the campus.
Many guessed immigrants from Central America. But that's not the case.
The 100 military vehicles are being stored on the property, as part of an agreement between Cook County and the Illinois Military Affairs Division.
“We’re paving the parking lot at our facility (an armory) at 139th Street and Pulaski in Crestwood, and we needed a place to put some vehicles for the next few weeks,” Major Lenny Williams, the intergovernmental affairs liaison for the Illinois National Guard, told Phil Kadner of the SouthtownStar. “We sent many of our vehicles to some of our other Guard facilities in the area, but there just wasn’t enough room for them all.”
