VeggieTales Stars Coming to Southland

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber will appear at a Family Christian store in South Holland on Saturday, August 2.

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber—stars of the hit children’s video series VeggieTales—will be at the Family Christian location in South Holland, Illinois, for the premiere of their new video “Celery Night Fever” on Saturday, Aug. 2.

The VeggieTales characters will meet children and adults at the free event at 1 p.m. at the Family Christian store, 550 E. 162nd St. in South Holland. The visit coincides with the nationwide release of “Celery Night Fever” which will be shown free of charge at the store at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. No tickets are necessary.

“We are expecting big crowds to turn out to meet the VeggieTales® celebrities that families have come to know and love,” Chuck Bengochea, President and CEO of Family Christian, said.

Children can get their picture taken with Bob and Larry in the Family Christian store. There will be children’s activities, including a fantastic Instagram contest in which a child can win a VeggieTales® birthday party complete with a live appearance from Bob and Larry. The prize package will also contain a tablet preloaded with VeggieTales videos.

Originally released in 1993, there have been more than 40 VeggieTales® videos that tell stories of vegetables who live on kitchen countertops. Each story portrays Christian moral themes and lessons.

VeggieTales has aired on NBC as part of children’s Saturday morning programming, on Trinity Broadcasting Network’s children’s network and on Netflix as its recently announced “VeggieTales in the House.” Families can also purchase their own DVDs of the shows, popular with children and adults.
