Thousands Expected at 32nd Annual Community Awareness Fair

The annual Community Awareness Fair, hosted by the Oak Forest-Crestwood Chamber of Commerce, takes place Saturday, Oct. 13. The event will be at Oak Forest High School and feature between 80-100 exhibitors.

The Oak Forest-Crestwood Chamber of Commerce's 32nd annual Community Awareness Fair is fast approaching and the chamber is already expecting a big turnout for the annual event, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13.

“It showcases local businesses, organizations, community churches, we have a variety of exhibitors," said Chamber Executive Director Kim Malecky-Iles. "We generally have 80 to 100 exhibitors.”

The fair will take place at Oak Forest High School, with doors opening at 10 a.m. Malecky-Iles said that the event is expecting 3,000-4,000 people throughout the day.

“It's very well-attended. The community definitely looks forward to it every year,” Malecky-Iles said. “It's crowded, it's a busy day. I know the local residents are anxious to attend every year.”

The event will include a blood drive organized by the Rotary Club, flu shots from Walgreens and a farmers market outside. Also, there will be live music and entertainment throughout the day.

“From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., it's the high schools, the grade schools … it's all local area entertainment,” Malecky-Iles said.

The Community Awareness Fair is a free event to attend, lasting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information about the event, contact the Chamber of Commerce at (708) 687-4600.
