Summer May be Ending But With Bookoo, Garage Sales Don't Have To
We found an online garage sale website where you can shop, rain or shine — or in sleet, snow, freezing temperatures ... you get the idea.
Summer is winding down. Classes will soon be in session, weather will become cool and crisp and outdoor activities — like garage sales — will cease until the sunshine and warm temps return.
But they don't have to. Especially with online garage sale websites like Bookoo, which touts the challenge, "Not a pack rat? Prove it!"
Users can shop around, rain or shine, for what can only be described as COMPLETELY RANDOM items in their hometowns and surrounding areas.
It looks like the site is still in its early stages, but it has potential. Categories include a wide range of items like antiques, arts and crafts, DVDs, farms and livestock, real estate, furniture, tickets … get the idea? It even has a section to post or peruse free items.
We took a few minutes this week to see what (and other area residents) had to offer. Here's a sample of what we found:
- A large, two-cabinet oak entertainment center for $300. It's 77 inches tall, the user writes, and can also be used as a display case.
- Halloween will be here before you know it. Why unload tons of cash at the costume store when you can buy this never-before-worn, one piece pumpkin costume? It's only five bucks!
- A $500 solid oak wood wall unit that can fit a queen sized or full bed is for sale in Orland Park. The seller boasts that "Pictures does not do this piece justice."
- This "old fashion" steam engine —it rides a 76-inch circular track— is a perfect fit for a 1 1/2 to 3-year-old child. It's up for grabs and comes with a bettery, charger, track AND extra track. its 76" circular track set. Sold with Battery, charger and track.
We also came across a washer and dryer, an antique sculpture of a princess and an ad for photography services. Go see for yourself. Who knows, you might find a diamond in the rough!
