Sports Photo Gallery: Community, Camaraderie and a Love of the Game
In a neighborhood setting that harkens back to the old days, 26 girls teams play softball in the Oak Forest Park District league and all of them dig the competition.
Four softball fields are nestled in the Gingerwood Subdivision of Oak Forest. During the spring and summer months, girls and their families flock to the fields for fun, laughter and a good old-fashioned game of softball.
The Oak Forest Park District has 26 girls softball teams. All carry full rosters. Most play on the fields in Oak Forest, while the senior team (high school level) travels to neighboring towns to play.
Coach Torres of the Cubbettes said, "My kids' childhoods have been filled with wonderful memories of playing ball on fields like these."
