Police: Day After Snow 'Almost Like a Sunday'

Tuesday night's officers saw stranded motorists; call center quiet as drivers stayed in on Wednesday.

After an in the first stages of 16 inches of snow dumped Tuesday night, police Wednesday and few emergencies, Deputy Police Chief David DeMarco said Thursday.

"It was smooth, most people stayed home," DeMarco said. "I think everyone was prepared quite a bit.

"Not much went on, it was almost like a Sunday."

Officers tagged 11 vehicles for towing, for violations of snow route parking over the two-day period, DeMarco said, with a "couple more" towed by Thursday morning. Oak Forest does not allow street parking after a snowfall of two or more inches and with so much snow in such a short time period, cars parked on streets make it difficult for plows to pass.

Comcast Outage

The department's Internet was down for much of the day Wednesday, DeMarco said. The service, provided by Comcast, was down from DeMarco's arrival shortly after 7 a.m., until approximately 3 p.m.
