PHOTO GALLERY: Oak Forest Team Heats Up in Frankfort Rib Cook-Off

Teams from Oak Forest and New Lenox share first-place honors at fundraiser held by the village of Frankfort, Lions Club and Frankfort Area Jaycees.

Barbecue fans hung on through a rain downpour Saturday to taste what contestants grilled up at Frankfort's third annual Amateur Rib Cook-Off at Breidert Green.

Nineteen contestants competed, but only three were named winners. First-place honors were given to Pork & Ladders, of New Lenox, and Southside Pitmen, of Oak Forest. The Crowd Favorite award was presented to Rob Rekosh of Full Slabs.

Rib pieces went for a dollar each. Hot-buttered sweet corn, pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs also were sold by the Lions Club and the Frankfort Area Jaycees. Proceeds from the Jaycees' fundraiser will go to purchase school supplies for kids in need.
