Pamper Your Pup for a Cause

Oak Forest is trying to raise funds for its own dog park, and you can help by bringing your dirty dog for a clean-up Saturday, Sept. 10.

Did your pup dig himself into a muddy mess? Or roll around in something smelly?

Put down the shampoo and hold off on the bath—until Saturday, at least.

Oak Forest Ald. Laura Clemons (1st Ward) and volunteers heading up the concept of a dog park will do the dirty work for you with a dog wash, with all proceeds going toward the park.

The fundraiser is the first of many planned to support the development of the park, which was the brainchild of Clemons.

If built, the proposed dog park at 158th Street and Central Avenue will have a fence running from a gated, north entrance, which borders a public skate park, to a gated south entrance, which borders the back entrance of Food 4 Less grocery. At , Clemons said the dog park will cost roughly $10,000 in seed money to start up; and that's if it's to become a premium dog park, with benches, doggy bag stations and a water fountain or two.
