In the last few days, I've received several notifications that a pack of 3 to 4 coyotes has been spotted wandering in our area.

There was a sighting of a pack of four walking near the Jessica subdivision walking trail.  Just this morning, I received word that three have been spotted in Gingerwood, on Laramie Avenue.

A Gingerwood resident reported that they were circling a tree in his backyard and they are suspected of attacking something in the Gingerwood Park/School field.

Please take extra precautions when letting your pets outside. Since there have been several sightings, it is recommended that you accompany your pets while they are outside—coyotes are generally fearful of humans. If you encounter the animals, do not attempt to approach them instead make a lot of noise—that should be sufficient to scare them away.

It is also very important to secure your garbage receptacles, as wild animals scavenge for food in the trash, which will most certainly keep the coyotes nearby in their attempt to hunt for food.

Animal control has been notified of these sightings.
