Oak Forest Man Wins $325K in Illinois Lottery Thanks to Wife

A reminder from his wife ensured Celso Rivera bought the winning ticket. Find out what the couple plan to do with the money.

An Oak Forest man won more than $300,000 in the Illinois Lottery thanks to a friendly reminder from his wife.

Celso Rivera won $325,000 in the daily Lucky Day Lotto on May 29 after purchasing a ticket at the Oak Forest Shell on Cicero Avenue, according to an Illinois Lottery press release. His matching winning numbers were: 15-21-34-37-39.

But Rivera wouldn't have been so lucky if he hadn't heeded what his wife told him on his way home: Don't forget to play the lottery.

“I finally listened to my wife and played the lottery," he stated in the release. "I still can’t believe I won $325,000.” 

The Riveras plan to share their winnings with their three children and are thinking of visiting their native country of Puerto Rico, the release stated.

The Oak Forest Shell receives a $3,250 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
